This is done through training farmers to see the niche in every Coffee and Cocoa Value Addition and Supply Chain Management right from the Garden to the Cup or from Pod to Processing to Export. The company achieves this through:

  1. Training on good agricultural practices through competent, local staff

Quality, Performance, Products Warrantee etc.

Our Company is mainly dealing with the value and supply chain management and development of perishable agricultural products like: Coffee, Cocoa, Soya and Beans, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Quality Protein Maize (QPM), Sugar Canes, Bananas, Pumpkins, Rice, Sorghum, Wheat, Barley, Millet, Poultry, Piggery, Cattle and other Horticulture Products.   Out of these, Cocoa and Coffee are our niche products.  Subsequently, the quality, performance and product warrantee is mainly achieved through continued improvement in the Value Addition and Supply Chain Management and Development of these products.  As already mentioned, it is this which guarantees our competitive advantage to tender and supply.  We are dealing in the Coffee and Cocoa value supply chain right from the garden to the cup in case of Coffee and from pod to port to processing in case of Cocoa.  We do Coffee and Cocoa:  procurement, transporting, processing, marketing and exporting.

Using our experience so far gained, there is hardly any doubt that good agricultural practices are vital to improve the yield and quality for coffee and cocoa growers in Uganda, Africa and the World at large.  Better quality equals better prices and better volumes. We are involved with several farmer groups in various parts of the country, in addition to our coffee and cocoa mother gardens and seedlings distribution operation where we link up with the local farmers to augment production and better practices. Every day, we are working on improving our competitive advantage so that one day we shall ably compete and become the leading exporter and suppliers of high quality coffee and cocoa worldwide.  On a daily basis, we strive to achieve this through the research and development by continuing to develop our strategic approach of Integrated value supply chain development.  Continuously we are developing our approach at the production level right from the grassroots communities by assisting in the improved yields and qualities which is achieved by the small holder farmers. We continuous give the best support to the small holder producers by training and provision of inputs, helping farmers to help themselves, change their attitude and involve them to actively participate in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by awakening them to critically observe every opportunity and niche within the value supply chain development of their produce: from garden to cup and from pod to processing to port.  By doing so every famer can now participate in every level of marketing the product and fight for the price at every level the producer, buyer and exporter can participate in so as to seize the price, have the money to improve their living standards. Each day we are achieving success and we are truly living by the name of our company: Value addition and Supply Chain Development (VASUCHADE).

Our Company therefore is integrating farmers into: Registered Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Farmers and Market Associations, Women Groups, Events Associations, SACCOs, Cooperatives, or Organisations thus empowering them to change their attitude from being just substance farmers who produce from hand to mouth by transforming them to becoming very serious business farmers.  Subsequently, there is always the need for our Company to instill in them the business Value Addition (Value Creation) as well as Supply Chain Management and Development at each level.

It therefore the duty of our Company to add value to our raw materials to produce high quality products that we eventually sell to our esteemed customers /or consumers. It is through the value chain development which gives our Company the competitive advantage in the industry, while the supply chain leads us to the overall customer satisfaction. Consequently, the supply chain management and development represents all the steps required to get the product to the customer.

As safety precaution, we warrantee our products by writing a guarantee for a product, and it holds us the maker or supplier of the product responsible to repair or replace a defective product or its parts. By doing so, we assure our consumers /or customers to have confidence in the quality and quantity of our products or service rendered.

We have for a long time desired to register our farmers and issue certificates thus certifying our famers.  However, this exercise is still very expensive and our mother country Uganda still lack the competent and qualified certifying companies. Most of the certifying companies are from Europe and very expensive to hire. Yet registering our farmers and certifying them would be a surety of both quality and quantity control this exercise offers “the traceability of famers” or products.

However, depending on the type of contract or agreement or Memorandum of Understanding or the Risk Management Measure Chosen, some consumers /or customers may prefer the guarantee covering the product, service, persons and consumer satisfaction to a warranty which covers the product only. Generally speaking, the guarantee is free of cost. On the other hand, the customer /or the consumer may prefer to pay for the warranty to safeguard the interest. In most of our dealings, a guarantee is comparatively less formal than a warranty.

As our Company is mainly dealing with agricultural products like: Coffee, Cocoa, Soya and Beans, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Quality Protein Maize (QPM), Sugar Canes, Bananas, Pumpkins, Rice, Sorghum, Wheat, Barley, Millet, Poultry, Piggery, Cattle and other Horticulture Products.     coffee and cocoa which are perishable, such businesses expose themselves to various risks through normal courses of their activities despite the cushions which management of our Company put in place.  Surely, no business can be conducted without a certain level of risk accepted. Accordingly, like most agricultural products, coffee and cocoa, with which we are mainly dealing with, depend on commodity prices especially those been exported.

On the other hand, however, our Company is carrying out some of the typical measures to guarantee or warranty is through continued capacity building   programs to relevant stakeholders involved such as: Farmers’ Groups, Associations, Cooperatives, Representatives of Farmers’ Cooperative Unions with instruments to assist in coping with price fluctuations.

As another risk measure and warrantee, our Company is continuously engaging herself in Research and extensive service in the sector. By doing so, we are indirectly improving the pricing issues the sector faces. This has greatly helped our Company to incorporate multivariable risk models and analysis and move beyond traditional approaches.

In order to reduce the price risk and guarantee the price stability of coffee and cocoa is by empowering the local producers themselves to become consumers or customers of their product thus creating the local market or intensifying the market research with the region which is a new form of value streaming.  Such an approach could potentially impact other feature of the economy and social development or intra-regional trade.

Alternatively, we can resort to the traditional methods like: insuring the risk by buying insurance covers, or by accepting the risk, or avoid the risk, or transferring the risk, or mitigate the risk, exploiting the positive risk.  Otherwise, the international market encourages long-term forward contracts and hedging of commodities to solve problems of price volatility be it for commodities or for fertilizers. All in all, our Company through our approach of integrating the Value Addition and the Supply Chain management and development, we intend to guarantee or warrantee high quality yields.  Also, our Governments can create policies to make price risk management tools accessible to farmers as well as to the customers.
